About

I'm Sasha, a design enthusiast with a love of ideas, comedy, and art.

My educational background includes a master's in information design and strategy, master of library and information science, and a bachelor's of arts in creative writing. For me, this converges in the struggle to make sure information is relevant and delightful.

Here I try to save snapshots of my creative excursions and extracurriculars. I am most interested in low-cost and low-barrier ways to support technology-adoption and exploration for adults. If you have an idea around that, I would love to hear it.

Blogging

I recently wrote about 3D printing PPE with Illinois PPE, and creating a coloring sheet. Sometimes I narrate audio versions of the blog post.

Drawings

In 2006, I tried to learn Illustrator in a Graphic Design class at UIC. It was confusing. Seven years later, I helped open the Maker Lab and quickly learned how to use Inkscape to create files for the laser cutter. I also practiced my bezier drawing by tracing familiar works by Mucha. Sometimes I upload my work to Deviant Art.

Made

My work often sometimes involves creating small items and instructions to walk others through the process, and some of those get documented on Flickr.

Photos

My interest in photography started in the 90s when I started building simple websites. I wanted to use original photos, and taking my own was the easiest way. My favorite subjects include architecture, plants, and art.

You can find me on Flickr and Instagram.
